Summer Retreat is back once again! Join us for an immersive weekend of movement, meditation and healing in the beautiful setting of Mitake Mountain. For this year’s retreat we will explore the path of Yoga and see how at its end, at its peak, begins the path of Tantra.

In Yoga we cultivate what is positive and avoid what is negative. In Tantra we live in full acceptance, embracing our aversions, for within every negative lies its positive; the possibility for transformation becomes available in every situation. By simply being relaxed, open, and aware, ignorance can turn into wisdom, fear into freedom, discipline into naturalness. We skillfully navigate our experiences, the non-dual mind stabilizes, and we abide effortlessly in our center.
私たちはヨガを通じて、ポジティブな側面を培い、ネガティブな物事を避ける術を学びます。一方、タントラの学びはすべてを受け入れます。嫌悪の対象ですら、受け入れることを学ぶのです。なぜなら、ネガティブな物事には必ずポジティブな側面が潜んでいると考えるからです。つまり、どんな状況でも、そこには変容のチャンスがあるとタントラは説くのです。心身が安らいで開かれ、意識づけが出来ていれば、無知を叡智に、恐れを自由に変えることができます。また、力みのない鍛錬が可能になるでしょう。自分の体験を方向付けることで、二元論に縛られない思考を保ち、私たちは自分の中心に安らいでいることが出来るのです。

In this retreat we will utilize Yoga and Tantra techniques to access the opportunities for transformation that are available in our day-to-day lives. Modern Hatha Yoga helps us explore new movement patterns and opens new pathways to our spiritual and worldly goals; Yin Yoga supports deep surrender and cultivates patience and compassion toward ourselves; and partner Kundalini Yoga/Venus Kriyas encourages openness and skillfulness in the way we relate to others. We will also practice pranayama, mantra and meditation to further gain support in unraveling the conditioned mind so we may stabilize in our natural state.
本コースでは、ヨガとタントラの手法を使い、日常にある変容のチャンスを活かす方法について学びます。モダン・ハタヨガの練習では、新しい動きを通じて、スピリチュアルな目標と人生の目標を達成するための道を開いていきましょう。陰ヨガの練習では、深く委ねることを学び、自分に対する忍耐力と思いやりを養うことが出来るでしょう。パートナーと行うクンダリーニヨガ(ヴィーナス・クリヤ)は、オープンな人間関係を可能にする上でも役に立つ練習です。他にもプラーナーヤーマ(呼吸法)、マントラ、瞑想の練習を行い、条件づけに捕らわれる思考からの解放、本来あるべき状態を保つ方法を学んでいきます。

Our human life is precious, each and every moment is new and full of possibility. But we often perceive reality as solid and fixed, our mind is bound by old conditioning and beliefs. Thus we limit our potential, deny ourselves what we truly want, settle for commonly shared mediocrity. This relates to our work, our relationships, our entire lives. We fall into comfortable habits of avoiding what we fear and attaching ourselves to what pleases us. On the path of spiritual growth, this keeps us stuck; opportunities to experience our fullest human potential are left unrealized.

Tantra is an esoteric path of transformation. Through it we see reality as fluid, our minds and behavior flexible. Unlike other spiritual paths which are about denying negative influences, tantra says to embrace them, but with awareness, which loosens the constricting knots of tension in our bodies and mind. This is the secret of transformation, opening the pathways of our creative life-force energies to allow for their expression and manifestation. Tantra means ‘continuity’, so instead of having ‘either/or’ mind one has ‘both/and’ mind. It means experiencing all dimensions of life in complete fullness, freeing ourselves from our bondage and rigidity, remaining relaxed, open and flowing, residing naturally in the middle, in our center. We live in full acceptance instead of critical denial.

In this Rudra Yoga retreat we will be introduced to the teachings and practices of various traditions coming from Tibet, India and America to discover how to balance our spiritual life in a world full of distractions. This will encompass yoga for the body, working skillfully with others; meditation with Tibetan deities to transform our attachments; and teachings about life and love to see a bigger picture of how to truly fulfill our wants and needs. By bringing increased awareness to our thoughts and actions, we release fear and confusion and develop unconditional love and wisdom.

We will explore the physical system through movements, breathing techniques and sound practices which focus on developing awareness of skeletal alignment, moving function and increased breathing function. The synchronicity of body movement with breath and mental focus creates a proper container to store energy needed for the expansion of awareness. This is the way of connecting with and honoring the love, harmony, and beauty in the world and expressing it in all the things that we do.

The Sufi path has deep roots coming from seeds planted by early mystics and esoteric schools of the Middle East. Come join us for our sixth annual Summer Retreat where we’ll honor life and celebrate love through diverse and dynamic yoga practices. The day begins with a blend of Hatha and Kundalini Yoga, the afternoons with Vinyasa and Gyrokinesis movement. We will bathe in the sounds of the sacred chants, teachings, and poetry of the mystics. And the days will end with one of our favorite practices, Sufi Dancing! This retreat will also give everyone more free time to be with nature and explore the power spots in the Mitake Mountains.

When we think of prosperity and abundance, we mostly think of money. But if we examine this idea, at its root is actually energy/prana/ki. And when we look even closer, we see that this energy is all-pervading and naturally abundant. So if we indeed want to live a life of prosperity and abundance, the first step is to understand this simple truth and to develop habits that support this reality within and without.

We have the potential to build and store vast amounts of energy if we are aware of our work, what we create, and how we manage it. Our bodies are containers of energy. So prosperity comes when we can strengthen our container, build the energy we store in it, and finally circulate that energy in our body and in our lives. The inner moves toward the outer, so as we develop this ability within, we experience the results as increased resources like money as well as opportunity.

In this workshop, we will examine our attitudes to discover and clear any obstacles that stand in our way of prosperity. We will learn simple exercises to create a supportive inner and outer environment where we can build, store and circulate energy and develop necessary awareness for abundance. In the end, we realize that we can practice and eventually stabilize our activity, our mind, our awareness and live effortlessly a life of prosperity and abundance.

来る2月28日(日)、2016年2回目のレイキレベル2 ワークショップを三軒茶屋にて開催します。既にレベル1のアチューンメントを受け、ご自身のヒーリングワークをさらに深める準備ができている方が対象となります。

In this workshop we will explore more of the theories and applications of Reiki plus learn the mantras and symbols that increase the potency of our healing abilities. As a Level II practitioner, we will be able to use Reiki to empower, balance, and create protection, as well as send energy over long distances in both time and space. It opens us to a whole new creative and dynamic level of work.
本ワークショップでは、レイキの理論と応用をさらに探求し、私たちが持っている癒しの力を増してくれるマントラとシンボルについて学びます。レベル2のプラクティショナーは、レイキを用いて力を与え、バランスを整え、防御することが可能になります。また、時空を超えて遠隔地へエネルギーを送る事もできるようになります。全く新しい、創造的で力強いレベルの取り組みへと開かれてゆくのです。

This is the second program of three (the final being Reiki Master Level III) and will consist of a lecture and two Level II attunements. There will be plenty of time to practice as well as a 1-hour lunch break. Class is limited to 7-8 students, so register early. I look forward to continuing this work with you!

Let’s ask ourselves this one question, “Do I make choices in my life based on my fears and worries, or do I make choices out of love and inspiration?” This is one of the most important and powerful ways to see our conditioned self. And if we want to unravel the complex mental and emotional web inside of us in order to make healthy and supportive changes in our lives, we must see clearly if our foundation is one of love or fear.

So what does it mean to be karma-free? What is karma and why would we want to be free of it? Karma is the law of cause and effect, the wheel of existence, good and bad, life and death. Some say it is the cycle of suffering which is never-ending until we become aware enough to see that we are in it. Life provides many opportunities to grow and evolve out of our conditioned self. When we learn these lessons and stop making new karma, we free ourselves from this cyclical existence. We free ourselves of problems, our suffering.

In this workshop we will look at a very simple teaching showing us that karma is finite, and the simple tool to completing it is an open state and the attitude of ‘yes’. We will learn practical exercises (pranayama and meditation) to prepare the mind and body, developing awareness of our inner condition, feeling the confidence that we can make choices based on love. When we begin this journey, we will see for ourselves the beauty, the magic, the adventure that is life and how it radiates from the magnificent light of our true nature.

では、カルマ・フリー(カルマにとらわれていない状態)とはどういう事でしょうか。カルマとは何なのでしょう、そしてなぜ私たちはそこから解放されたいと願うのでしょうか。カルマとは因果の法則、輪廻、善と悪、生と死です。私たちがそれはカルマなのだという気づきを得るまで、絶え間なく続く苦悩のサイクルだと言う人もいます。人生は私たちが成長し、条件付けられた自己から前進するための様々な機会を与えてくれます。それらの教訓から学び、新たなカルマを作り出す事がなくなった時、私たちはこの循環する生から自由になるでしょう。問題はなくなり、苦しみから解放されるのです。

このワークショップでは、カルマが有限である事を示すシンプルな教え、開かれた状態と肯定的な態度を得るためのシンプルな方法を見て行きます。

そして、心と体を整え、内面への気づきを養い、愛に基づく選択ができる自信を得るための実用的なエクササイズ(呼吸法と瞑想)を学びます。この旅を始めれば、人生に愛、魔法、冒険を見出し、それが私たちの本質である素晴らしい光から輝きを放っている事が分かる様になるでしょう。

On Sunday, January 31st, I will be sharing the healing tradition in which I’ve been working for the past 18 years – the practice of Reiki. If you are interested, it will be a great opportunity to become initiated as a level I practitioner and to understand how it can be used for your all-around creativity, prosperity, health and well being.
来る1月31日(日)、僕が過去18年にわたって取り組んでいるヒーリングの伝統であるレイキのプラクティスを皆さんとシェアしたいと思っています。ご興味があれば、レベル1を習得し、皆さんの創造性と繁栄、健康と幸福と多岐に渡りレイキを役立てる方法を学ぶ素晴らしい機会になるでしょう。

‘Rei’ means divine and ‘Ki’ means life force. This form of healing energy is inherent in and exists all around us. It is suitable for anyone. There are no special requirements or talent; just the desire for opening more deeply to one’s healing abilities.
「レイ」は神聖な、「キ」は生命力という意味です。この癒しのエネルギーは私たちの内にもともと備わっているものであり、また私たちを取り巻く全てのものに備わっているのです。どなたにも体験していただけます。特に必要なものや特別な技能なども要りません。皆さん自身の癒しの力に対してより深く開かれたいと願う気持ちだけで良いのです。

Join us for this workshop which will include basic theories, procedures and attunements to becoming a level I practitioner. You will learn hand placement positions for treating yourself and others with Reiki, as well as a variety of ways to apply it to daily living and creative work. The workshop will have a 1-hour lunch break.

Thousands of years ago in the ancient lands of central Asia emerged the spiritual tradition of Bön, which is said to be the seed or root of all spiritual paths of today. It teaches that we are already naturally enlightened, and by clearing away the obscurations that cloud our awareness we can experience this inherent Buddha nature. It is considered the indigenous spiritual tradition of Tibet, yet the practices and teachings support all varieties of spiritual traditions that exist on the planet.
今をさかのぼること数千年前、いにしえの中央アジアで、ボン教の霊的な伝統は生まれました。これは今日に続くあらゆるスピリチュアルな歩みのルーツであると言われています。ボン教の教えは、私たちが本質的に悟りを開いた存在であるとし、その気づきを曇らせる障壁を取り除くことによって、内在するブッダの本質につながることができると説きます。これはチベット土着のスピリチュアルな伝統であるとされていますが、そのプラクティスと教えは、この地球に存在する様々な霊的伝統の助けとなるものでもあります。

The pre-Buddhist Bön practices are grounded and earthy, connecting us with nature and the elements, yet at the same time expand our consciousness beyond the vast space of the cosmos. They are wonderfully useful for handling the stresses of daily life; purifying and harmonizing our body, speech and mind; and realizing our ultimate goal of liberation. Bön includes the paths of Sutra, Tantra and Dzogchen, all which guide us to having a true spiritual life.
仏教布教以前のボン教の行は地に足のついた素朴なものでした。人と自然をつなぎ、そのさまざまな要素に触れながら、しかし同時に意識を果てしない宇宙の彼方まで広げさせるような教えです。このプラクティスは日常のストレスに対処するのに非常に役立ちます。体と言葉、そして思考(マインド)を浄化し、調和させ、究極の解放へと私たちを導くのです。ボン教の教えは、スートラ、タントラ、ゾクチェンの歩みをも包含し、私たちが真のスピリチュアル・ライフを送るための道を照らしてくれるものなのです。

Come join us for this year’s Summer Retreat where we will learn the Bön Yoga practices which can add depth and dimension to our current spiritual practices/beliefs. Prostrations prepare the body and mind; pranayama balances the channels; yoga exercises remove obstacles and create space; mantra opens the heart, cultivating joy and equanimity; and meditation guides us to the realization of our Buddha nature. Once introduced, these practices act as a loyal friend who will accompany us throughout our spiritual journey.

瞑想とは何でしょうか?それは、気づきを得ることでしょうか?それとも平和な静けさ?心の状態?瞑想とはいったい何なのでしょう。

瞑想の説明は難しく、答えが何だったとしてもすべて正解かもしれません。時としてそれは私たちが必要とするものに形を変え、私たちそれぞれが持つ個性に合わせて現れてくれます。究極を言うと、瞑想とは私たちすべてにいい結果をもたらしてくれるものなのです。

このワークショップでは、まず私たちのマインドがいかに集中する事が得意なのかを理解することから始めましょう。集中と憂鬱な気持ちは相反するものです。もし私達が自らの人生にフォーカスしようとするなら、マインドに焦点を当てなければなりません。

まずは、瞑想をマインドを集中させるトレーニングをする事だと捉えましょう。マインドを集中させることができるようになりさえすれば、他には何も必要なくなります。集中を学んだマインドはどのような活動にも応用でき、すべてに成功と達成をもたらすでしょう。

このワークショップでは瞑想がもつさまざまな側面を探究し、マインドを訓練するとはどのようなことなのかを探ります。瞑想の基本を学ぶ事からはじめ、そして伝統的に座るテクニックとともにダイナミックに動くスタイルを練習します。一番大切なのは、どのようにこの瞑想を毎日の練習や生活に取り入れていくのかを知ることなのです。

人間がもつ可能性を最大限に引き出すために、新しいドアを開けてみましょう。初心者を含む全てのレベル向けワークショップです。集中するために、自分自身を再教育しましょう。

What is meditation? Is it mindful activity, is it peaceful stillness? Is it a state of the mind? What exactly is it?

For many, meditation is not easily explained. And that because all the answers can be true. It can be whatever we need it to be, it can be catered it to suit our unique and individual personalities. Ultimately, meditation is whatever works for us. But the first step is examining how well our mind can concentrate.

Concentration and depression are opposites. If we want to be able to focus our lives, we need to be able to focus our minds. So for starters, meditation is about training the mind to concentrate. Educate the mind to concentrate and you will need no other education. This means that a trained mind can be applied to any activity and bring success and eventually mastery. Thus applying meditation to what we do has rich potential.

In this workshop we will explore the many facets of meditation and what it means to train the mind. We will go over the basics of meditating, practicing traditional sitting technique as well as dynamic movement style. Most importantly we will see how to apply meditation to your practice as well as in your everyday activity, thus opening the door to experience our fullest human potential.

This workshop is open to all levels of experience. Educate yourself to concentrate!

When we get emotional, having self-control and maintaining our awareness can seem difficult, if not impossible. But in actuality emotional states are very easy to identify and understand. An essential tool is learning about the Five Poisons, the basic categories of negative emotions. Then we can actually change the way we feel and experience the lightness and clarity which opens the door to our natural state of being – the state of yoga.

When we allow ourselves to be in a truly natural state, we deeply connect to our soul, rejoice in the happiness of others, feel inner and outer balance, and our spirit is uplifted and inspired. When we come up against obstacles and challenges, it can stimulate the patterns of our poisonous emotions. We can feel animosity towards others, become attached to things for our happiness, get stuck in habits that don’t help us to grow, or become indifferent or lazy about our growth and purpose in life.

In this workshop we will examine how to address the five poisonous emotions of anger, attachment, ignorance, jealousy, and pride. We will cultivate the naturally positive qualities in our being through breathing, movement and mantra as taught from Bön, the indiginous spiritual tradition from Tibet. No matter where we are now in our practice, we can all learn how to stop when we get emotional, check in with ourselves, and work as skillfully as possible to get the results we desire. Liberate your emotions and live a life full of joy and inspiration!

人は感情的になると、自己をコントロールしたり、気づきを保ったりすることを、不可能ではないにせよ難しく感じるものです。しかし現実には、心の状態というものは認識し理解することが非常に容易でもあります。必要なことは、「五つの毒」と呼ばれる否定的な感情の基本的カテゴリーについて学ぶことです。この学びによって、私たちは物事の感じ方を変え、明るくクリアな気分を味わうことができるようになります。これこそ私たちが自然な状態 – ヨガの境地 – へ到達するための扉を開いてくれるものなのです。

真に自然な状態に身を置くことができるなら、私たちは自らの魂と深く結びつき、他者の幸福を喜び、内と外に調和を見出し、精神は高められ、インスピレーションを得ることができるのです。障害や課題に直面すると、私たちの有害な感情パターンは刺激を受けます。他者を憎んだり、私たちの幸福に必要であると思われるような物事に執着するようになったり、自分の成長の妨げとなるような習慣から抜け出せなくなったり、成長することや人生の目的に無関心で、怠惰になってしまうのです。

このワークショップでは、五つの有毒な感情とされる、怒り、執着、無知、嫉妬、プライドに対処する方法を学びます。チベット土着のスピリチュアルな伝統である、ボン(教)の教えによる呼吸とムーヴメント、マントラによって、私たちの内に宿る、生来のポジティブな質を培います。みなさんのプラクティスが今どのような段階にあろうとも、私たちはみな、感情的になってしまった時にどうやって立ち止まり自分の状態を確認するか、できるだけ上手に望む結果を得るためにはどのように取り組めば良いのかを学ぶことができるのです。感情を解放して、喜びとインスピレーションに満ちた人生を送りましょう!
